Port Sudan:
the Sudanese Red Crescent Society (SRCS) in Port Sudan, at hall of Social Security, launched the kickoff to Protection project, funded by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Danish Red Cross, in the presence of the SRCS Secretary General, department directors, the country director of the Danish Red Cross, and representatives of relevant authorities.

The project includes many specializations and programs related to protection and immigration issues in the Northern State. It extends over a period of five years with a budget estimated at up to one million euros, as the programs are unique to the border areas of Ashkit-Argain and Almuthalath.

The Secretary General of the SRCS, Mrs. Aida AlSayed Abdullah, explained that the project provides protection services such as health care, relief, legal aid, and psychosocial support. She said: “We aim to strengthen protection and response activities for migrants and displaced persons in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, Security and Social Development, the General Directorate of Passports, Immigration and Nationality, Anti-Smuggling, Family and Child Protection, the Child Welfare Fund, the Expatriates Affairs, and the Violence Reduction Unit.”

It is worth noting that this project is an extension of the previous project, which completed four years.

It is worth noting that the partnership between the Sudanese Red Crescent and the Danish Red Cross has extended for forty years. It has been a fruitful and flexible partnership, through which a large portion of projects for migrants and refugees have been transferred to benefit internally displaced people due to the war, through which health and relief services and psychosocial support have been provided in shelter centers in a number of states.
